Live Auditions

-If attending a live audition bring audition packet to audition site and turn in at registration.

 

-Audition packets should include:

  • A completed application
  • Payment (Application fee: $35.00)
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Headshot or snapshot of the applicant

 

-Live auditions will include a dance audition – jazz and tap – as well as performance of prepared song and monologue


-Tap portion is optional if student has no prior tap experience


-Prepare a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song. Selections should not exceed these limits.


-An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music.


-A DVD player is available on request.


-If no monologue is prepared, then a cold reading will be provided.


-Bring jazz and tap shoes


-Auditions are open calls. No appointments are necessary.


-All applicants must audition in all areas: acting, dance and voice but do not necessarily have to excel in every discipline.


-Applicants will be assigned a number on a first come first serve basis when they register and will audition in order of their number.


-Audition length will be 3 to 6 hours depending on the number of applicants.


-Audition will begin with the dance audition. All students will learn combinations and then be reviewed 4 at a time.


-Acting/vocal auditions will follow dance. Applicant will perform their monologue and song together at which point their audition will be complete and they are free to go.


-Space permitting, parents are welcome to observe the dance portion of the audition. Acting/Vocal audition is closed.

 

Recorded Auditions - Solo

-If unable to attend a live audition, you may submit a recorded audition on DVD.


-Your audition should include

  • a one-minute monologue
  • a complete song
  • a jazz combination
  • a tap combination (optional if you have no tap experience)

There are no time limits on dance combinations, but they should demonstrate the applicant's highest level of dance ability.


- DVDs are not returnable.


-Taped audition deadline has been extended to March 15, 2010.

 

 

 

Recorded Auditions - Group

-If four or more applicants from the same school or studio would like to audition, but are unable to attend a live audition, they may submit a group audition on DVD.


-All applicants auditioning in a group audition will have their $35 audition fee waived.


-Each member of the group should perform their own song and monologue as specified above.


-Jazz and Tap combinations may be performed solo or as a group, as long as each dancer can be clearly seen.


-There are no time limits on dance combinations, but they should demonstrate the applicant's highest level of dance ability.


- DVDs are not returnable.


-Taped audition deadline has been extended to March 15, 2010.

 

-If mailing a taped audition, please mail audition packet and DVD to:
