Rachelle Rak has had a career most Broadway performers would envy. She has had the opportunity to work with some of the greatest choreographers of our time including Jerry Mitchell, Susan Stroman, Gwen Verdon, Ann Reinking and Joey McNeely. And she has performed in no less than seven major Broadway shows: Cats, the revival of Oklahoma!, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Catch Me If You Can, Thou Shalt Not, The Look Of Love and, perhaps most notably, the Tony Award-winning musical Fosse, in which she was a featured artist. It is Rachelle on the DVD release who performs the leads in the numbers “I Gotcha” and “Mein Herr.”
Off Broadway she was seen in Sessions and An Evening at the Carlyle, and on tour in Starlight Express, Smokey Joe's Cafe, and Sunset Boulevard. Rachelle is also featured in the documentary Every Little Step: The Making of A Chorus Line, and she has released a CD called SAS/RAK, plus a number of music videos on YouTube created by Daniel Robinson.
Rachelle’s passion to teach has been a part of her life since she was very young – thanks to being so wonderfully trained by her own mom while growing up in Pittsburgh – so she is thrilled to be able to share her knowledge and love for dance. She’s also a master of the audition process, and looks forward to imparting her specialty: how to create a story in seconds when you are under pressure. It was Rachelle’s mother who taught her to adjust in any situation – which has subsequently helped her to maintain a lasting career.
